Yep, this post has 5 awesome Christmas Marketing Ideas.
First things first, images for this post are from a mix of designers, online stores and general awesomeness that I wanted to share.
Sometimes I find seasonal promotions a drag, especially when they are pushy, in-your-face and blatantly a money fetch.
I’m guessing that if I can see through the 20% off discount, so can a lot of folk. I’m not even that discerning (I used to be called an Indian blonde when I was little!).
1. Nothing beats FaceTime more than Face To Face.
Are you listening Apple? Open up a pop up shop for Christmas and give cookies. Say hi to your buyer and let them fall in love with your smile (works a charm all the time). Nothing can beat connecting on a human level, Richard Branson is popular because his blog is written to make him appear more accessible. I love Deepak Chopra cause when I press play, it’s like he is right in the room.
2. Send a card. HAHAHA. NO.
Send a card which BENEFITS your client. What do you want for Christmas? I want one of those frame thingees for my fridge so I can put family pics on it. I want some beautiful cards that I can send on to friends for Christmas! I want a gallery of pictures of rural Australia. I don’t want something with your branding all over it. But if you’re sending something that tells me you thought about me, I will love you more.
Send a bottle of wine.HAHAHAHAHA. NO.
Send a bottle of wine with some RSVP dates for a dinner date for you and your favourite client.
Ask them to tick boxes like this;
tofu
steak
french fries
And take them out to a fine dinner… Of their choice.
4. Don’t give them a donkey in Africa. Unless the conversation is about donkeys in Africa.
What you give someone for Christmas, is not your own philanthropic desire. It’s about them.
Ask them, what they want to donate to, where they would chose to spend their money, what makes them happy.
And after you click that link, don’t go buying me a bra thanks.
Once, I gave a mentor a book that he had mentioned in conversation 8 months ago. I took note. He was stoked.
5. To the masses? I get it. You might be Myers or Coles or Zara.
Chuffed you’re reading this by the way. Give them a wish. And make 100 of those wishes come true. Some big, some small.
Make kids smile and make grannies get all gooey inside when they thought it was all over.
Or if you’re in fashion, let the winner design their garment.
Or if you’re in banks, buy them a bitcoin (jokes) or something that money can’t buy, like the perfect date or the perfect vacation (they just have to tick the box).
And for every damn person who didn’t have their wish come true, send them a postcard in the mail which says something kind and truly Christmas like “Have a truly gorgeous Christmas!” Just because you can.
+++++++
The final thing I’d love to leave you with?
Make it something worth sharing.
Helpful? Share it!
